The most energy can be found in our team, of course! A lively stay like ours needs a lot of energy, and we try to do our bit there too. Our electricity is green, sustainable and Belgian and is purchased from Engie. We also have smart solutions to reduce energy consumption. For instance, we have energy savers in the rooms and common areas that turn down or turn off appliances when use is not necessary. Live climate smart at Kiekekot Mechelen. Our facilities have been designed with low power LED lighting and renewable energy sources in mind - so you can enjoy our facilities guilt-free.

We separate all paper, glass, plastic and residual waste. And we compact any remaining waste. As a result, the waste service doesn’t have to come to the student house as often. Fewer journeys means less fuel used and less CO2. Which is a shame because there are some good-looking waste truck workers that we’d like to get to know better.

As we all know, each toilet flush requires a lot of water, and water is one of the most valuable resources. We use rainwater to flush the toilets. Using this method, we save water . There is also a special heating system to heat water using a solar water heater on the roof, which is energy-saving.
